01Overview

Phoenix is not one electrical market. It is a patchwork of neighborhoods wired in different eras, split between two utilities, and permitted through a single city office. A panel job on a 1960s central block is not the same project as one in a 2000s Laveen house. The metro-wide picture of everything we do lives on our electrical division page; this page is Phoenix itself.

Electrical service in Phoenix

Start with the utility, because in Phoenix that is a genuine question rather than a formality. The city is split between APS and SRP, sometimes street by street, and two houses a mile apart can sit with different companies, different service processes, and different rate plans. Whoever serves you owns the meter and the service drop and sets the calendar for anything that needs a disconnect. So the address is what we look it up against, before a service-level job is written, rather than guessing from the neighborhood name.

Permits run through City of Phoenix Planning and Development. Panel changes, service upgrades, and new circuits typically require one; a repair that swaps like for like often does not. Phoenix runs the state’s largest permit desk, so plan review and inspection scheduling are their own step in a timeline; the written quote says which path your job takes.

What the city actually calls us for follows its eras: panel and breaker replacement in the central corridors, aluminum-era terminations corrected with rated connectors, EV charging circuits from Ahwatukee to Deer Valley, remodel wiring in Arcadia, and surge protection after monsoon nights that drop feeders across whole districts.

Phoenix housing stock and its wiring

Three electrical generations cover most of the city. Central Phoenix wears its age honestly: mid-1960s to early-1970s houses can carry aluminum branch circuits, which need aluminum-rated connectors and devices, and panels from the era include Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco, with documented reliability problems that insurers flag. Arcadia’s mid-century ranches sit in that window too, which is why its remodel wave keeps turning into a panel conversation. Sunnyslope and North Mountain add their own wrinkle: hillside lots and houses built and modified across decades, which produces one-of-a-kind wiring that deserves real diagnosis.

Ahwatukee and the other 1980s and 1990s tracts were wired competently in copper. The decade moved. Those panels are hitting capacity age just as EV chargers, pool equipment, home offices, and spas arrive, and breakers, which are thermal devices by design, ride closer to their limits inside garages that heat-soak every summer afternoon. The tell is a circuit that behaves all winter and trips at the same hot hour in July.

Laveen and the newer edges of Deer Valley are electrically healthy: grounded copper, modern breakers, tidy original installs. What they are not is future-proof. Builder-minimum panels fill quickly once a second vehicle, a workshop, or a pool arrives, and lots out there run large enough that a detached shop means a long feeder and a voltage-drop calculation before anyone pulls wire.

Dispatch and response in Phoenix

Yeti Pros is a service-area business. There is no storefront and no claimed Phoenix office; the company runs trucks across the metro, and Phoenix sits in the middle of every route we drive. Coverage comes from dispatch, not from an address on a door. Our HVAC side already works Phoenix daily, and electrical dispatch rides that same rhythm. The practical variable in a city this wide is which quadrant you sit in and how the freeway grid is moving, so scheduled work gets a window that respects the drive and the job, because a panel swap carries utility coordination and an inspection inside it. Tell us the neighborhood and the symptom through our contact page.

Phoenix electrical FAQs

How do I find out whether my house is on APS or SRP?

Check any electric bill; the name on it is the answer. If the bills are not in hand, give us the address and we will confirm the territory before any service-level work gets scheduled. The split genuinely runs street by street in parts of Phoenix, and the two utilities follow different processes for disconnects and service jobs.

Do 1950s to 1970s central Phoenix homes need full rewiring?

Not automatically. Plenty of mid-century Phoenix wiring is serviceable. What decides it is specific evidence: aluminum branch circuits, a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel, heat-brittled insulation at attic junctions, or a pattern of warm devices and flicker. Rated connectors, targeted repairs, and panel replacement each solve real problems short of a rewire.

Do you cover Ahwatukee even though it sits behind South Mountain?

Yes. Ahwatukee is part of normal Phoenix coverage, not an add-on. The geography just means we schedule it deliberately instead of pretending a truck idles around the corner. Most of the work there tracks its 1980s and 1990s housing: original panels meeting EV chargers, pool equipment, and home offices in heat-soaked garages.

[ PERMITS & CODE ]

Permits and inspections

Most repairs are ordinary service work; bigger scopes can involve city permitting. We perform our work to code, pull the permits our scope requires, and put what we did in writing.

[ WARRANTY ]

What's covered

Workmanship is covered for two full years, in writing, and repair parts carry a 1-year manufacturer parts warranty — we document installs and repairs so those claims stay simple to make
