01Overview

Scottsdale is two cities wearing one name. South of Indian Bend, the 1960s and 1970s ranch neighborhoods are deep in a remodel wave, with original panels still doing quiet duty behind freshly renovated walls. North Scottsdale runs newer and larger, where the electrical questions are all about demand. The complete list of what we do lives on the electrical division page.

02Electrical service

Electrical service in Scottsdale

Utility territory here tracks the city’s growth rings. SRP serves most of south Scottsdale and APS serves much of the north, and neither boundary announces itself at the curb. Which company holds your meter is therefore something we verify against the street address itself, ahead of scoping any job that reaches the service. The distinction is operational, not academic: the serving utility owns the meter and service drop, sets the scheduling rules for service work, and its rate plans quietly shape EV charging strategy.

Permitting for panel work, service upgrades, and added circuits goes through the City of Scottsdale, and the written quote states the permit call so nothing about inspection day is a surprise. Scottsdale layers its own design and hillside review over parts of the north, so exterior work such as a generator pad can carry approvals beyond the electrical permit.

What the city calls us for splits the same way the map does. In the south it is original panel replacement, including the Federal Pacific and Zinsco platforms that insurers flag, plus aluminum-era terminations. In the north it is multi-charger garages, backup power planned around HOA placement and noise rules, and landscape and outdoor living circuits built to survive sun and monsoon dust.

03Scottsdale housing

Scottsdale housing stock and its wiring

Read the city north to south and you read its electrical history in reverse. South of Indian Bend, the 1960s and 1970s ranches are the heart of old Scottsdale living. Electrically this is the city’s careful zone: branch circuits from the aluminum window, panels original to the house, and decades of attic heat on insulation. A remodel is the right moment to correct all of it, while the walls are open. We also see plenty of houses here that check out fine, and we say so.

The 1970s and 1980s stock in and around McCormick Ranch sits in the middle of the story: copper wiring, mostly sound, with panels now reaching capacity age. They absorb modern loads one addition at a time, a spa here, a charger there, until a load calculation has to settle whether the fix is dedicated circuits or a panel upgrade.

DC Ranch, Troon, and the newer north builds are wired cleanly for their era, but demand in these houses is on a different scale: multiple EVs, smart systems, landscape and outdoor living circuits, and backup power expectations set by monsoon outages. The lots are also large and often terraced into desert hillside, which turns a casita, gate operator, or well pump into a long buried run where conductor sizing and voltage drop drive the scope.

04Dispatch

Dispatch and response in Scottsdale

What shapes a Scottsdale visit is rarely distance; it is access. Guard gates and HOA rules set the tempo, so we collect gate codes and community requirements when the job is booked. The city also runs about thirty miles end to end, so a Troon call and an old-town call are not interchangeable slots on the same afternoon. We are a service-area business with no Scottsdale storefront, and we say that plainly rather than renting an address to look local. The HVAC half of the company already works Scottsdale daily, which keeps the city inside our normal routing. Describe the house, its era, and the project through our contact page.

Scottsdale electrical FAQs

Can you work in guard-gated communities?

Yes, and we treat access as part of the job, not an obstacle. At booking we collect gate instructions and any HOA vendor rules, then schedule so the arrival window works with how the community operates. For exterior projects such as generators or landscape lighting, we build the HOA’s placement and architectural rules into the design first.

My south Scottsdale ranch still has its original panel and maybe aluminum wiring. Where do we start?

With an assessment, not a proposal. We identify the panel platform, since Federal Pacific and Zinsco carry documented histories that insurers flag, inspect terminations for the aluminum-era signature, and test how the system behaves under load. Then you get written findings that separate must-address items from monitor-and-plan items.

Can you set up charging for two EVs in a three-car garage?

Usually, and the load calculation decides how. Options run from two full circuits, to load-management staging so chargers share capacity without tripping anything, to a panel upgrade when the arithmetic says the service is out of headroom. Garage heat and continuous-load sizing are built into the design, and rooftop solar shapes what the panel can accept.

[ PERMITS & CODE ]

Permits and inspections

Most repairs are ordinary service work; bigger scopes can involve city permitting. We perform our work to code, pull the permits our scope requires, and put what we did in writing.

[ WARRANTY ]

What's covered

Workmanship is covered for two full years, in writing, and repair parts carry a 1-year manufacturer parts warranty — we document installs and repairs so those claims stay simple to make
