Mini-split vs dedicated garage unit

A ductless mini-split uses an indoor wall, ceiling, or floor-mounted unit connected to an outdoor condenser. It gives the garage its own thermostat and lets you cool only when you need the space. That matters for workspaces that are not occupied all day. The indoor unit needs the right placement, drain routing, line-set path, electrical service, and clearance. It also needs to be protected from dust-heavy work where possible. Woodworking, grinding, and shop use can load filters fast, so service access matters.

A dedicated ducted system is more involved. It may use a small air handler and duct runs designed only for the garage.
